Step Up to the Plate with Nextag Tickets

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Breanne Cooley

Can you feel it in the air?

The infamous “boys of summer” are showcasing their awesomeness on baseball fields across America. From New York, to Chicago, to San Francisco, major cities are buzzing with the glorious sounds of America’s favorite pastime.

So, have you been to a baseball game yet?

If not, don’t fret – there’s plenty of game left! And plenty of tickets. Check out how Nextag Tickets can help get you there in a few quick clicks.

Ways to Search Nextag Tickets

Whether you’re in the mood for a day game or a night game, Nextag Tickets can help you find Major League Baseball tickets. Using a simple search box, you can search in a variety of ways, using various filters to refine your results. A simple, easy, and effective way to get your hands on tickets – who has time for anything else these days?

Search by Baseball Team

If you want to see your team play, you can search by team using the filter on the left-hand side, under “Team.” From the Seattle Mariners to the Miami Marlins, you can select any team in the MLB to instantly view available tickets.

Search by Location

Taking a vacation or business trip this summer? Using the Location filter on the left-hand side, you can filter by… guessed it….location. If you’re planning a trip to Philadelphia, PA, grab a Phillies jersey, some Phillies tickets, and get ready for some die-hard baseball fans. You can also type this location-based information directly into the main search box to get more specific results.

Set Maximum Prices Per Ticket

Nextag Tickets can help you stay budget conscious, too. You shouldn’t have to break the bank just to see some baseball, right? To save some dinero, enter a maximum price per ticket within the filters on the left-hand side. That way you won’t feel guilty when you splurge on the ever-so-expensive (but delicious) stadium food.

Search by Date Range

If you’re a planner and want to buy tickets ahead of time, you can search by date range. Just like when you book a flight, use the handy calendar icon to select the dates you’re looking at. The results you’ll see will be within the timeframe you selected. You can also type your desired dates into the main search box to get these results.

Search for the Best Values

Once you’ve clicked on a specific result, you can zoom into the map to find the best ticket values. Lighter colored markers denote lower priced tickets, while the blue star denotes the absolute best values.

So the next time you’re craving a ballpark hotdog and some friendly baseball banter, check out Nextag Tickets to get your game on!

Neat Stuff on Nextag: Electric Fireplaces

Posted on May 22, 2012 by Nicholas Passalis-Bain

Whether you live someplace cold, or just like fires so much you want one in every room of your home, electric fireplaces can provide dazzling displays of heat and light without blowing a hole in your chimney sweep budget. Let’s take a look at four great electric fireplace options and the aesthetic strengths of each.

Traditional (Built-in) Electric Fireplace

First the basics. To the untrained eye this could be a wood-burning fireplace. It even has what appear to be logs inside. However, because no vent (or chimney) is required, your built-in can be placed anywhere, with a quick and inexpensive installation. Want the hypnotic beauty of fire even in the warm summer months? Your electric fireplace can operate with or without putting out heat!

Wall Mount Electric Fireplace

Wall mount electric fireplaces create the appearance that you have framed fire pits built into your walls for far less than that would actually cost. Like moving paintings, these fireplaces are great conversation pieces that add great elegance and style to your home. Invite friends over to bask in the heat of your newest art piece and wonder, what does it mean?

Electric Flame Mirror

Nothing highlights your dramatic anguish like staring intently into a mirror that is on fire. Electric flame mirrors are easy to install, and can keep you feeling toasty while you get ready in the morning. Let owning this beautiful item provide the spark you need to get out there and set the world on fire.

Fireplace Entertainment Centers

There’s some cognitive dissonance here, because it looks a lot like your wooden entertainment center and electronics are going to be consumed by fire. But it’s nice because that isn’t really going to happen, and you can enjoy your fireplace while watching TV! These elegant consoles feature variable flame brightness settings and remote controls, so you can operate yours like a second TV that only gets the fireplace channel.

Happy National Chocolate Chip Day!

Posted on May 15, 2012 by Nicole Nuss

chocolate chips, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip day

If you polled the sweet tooth population, asking what the single most important ingredient in all of baking is, one answer would undoubtedly be given more than any other — the simple yet magnificent, chocolate chip.

After all, what food isn’t made better by adding chocolate chips?

Mint ice cream is fine and dandy, but mix it up with some sweet chocolate chips and you’ve got yourself an ice cream flavor favorite.

And nobody loves blueberry pancakes more than me. But every once in a while I switch out those blueberries with, you guessed it, less healthy, but equally delicious, chocolate chips. And I never regret my decision to do so.

Then there’s THE cookie. There’s just no debating it. The chocolate chip cookie is a classic and one of, if not the, most popular cookie around. It’s estimated that about 25% of all cookies baked in the U.S. every year are good ole chocolate chip cookies.

Fun fact about chocolate chip cookies: In 1930, Ruth Graves Wakefield was the divine creator of the chocolate chip cookie. But she did it completely by accident. After running out of ingredients while making chocolate cookies, she broke off some chocolate bits and tossed them into the batter thinking they’d melt. But thankfully they never did and the scrumptious chocolate chip cookie was born! Wakefield later sold her recipe to Nestlé, not for money, but rather in exchange for a lifetime supply of … chocolate chips.

Here are three yummy, chocolate chip-filled goodies to celebrate today’s holiday with:

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Yep! If you’re looking to devour some warm-from-the-oven chocolate chip cookies, here are a few chocolate chip cookie mixes to help you achieve your goal. If you wanna skip the baking and just jump right into an already-made bag of cookies, you can’t go wrong with Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies. That’s a fact. chocolate chips, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip day

Chocolate Chip Muffins
The same goes for yummy chocolate chip muffins. If you wanna bake ‘em yourself, here are some chocolate chip muffin mixes to try. But if you want to skip the hassle, ditch the prep time and effort, and just have the food delivered right to your doorstep, these banana chocolate chip muffins from Abe’s Market are amazing. Plus they’re organic, vegan, and gluten-free, so you can eat more, with less guilt.

Chocolate Chips
Hey, why not go directly to the source? I’m completely on board with this idea. Honestly, what better way to celebrate a day dedicated to chocolate chips, than by diving hand-first into a bag of chocolate chips? Go for it! And if you want to mix it up and get all crazy, opt for white chocolate chips instead.

Happy National Butterscotch Brownie Day!

Posted on May 9, 2012 by Nicole Nuss

brownies, blondies, butterscotch brownies, food holidays

Do you love rich, gooey brownies, but maybe you’re – gasp – not a fan of chocolate and instead pine for dessert treats featuring non-cocoa bases? Or perhaps regular ole chocolate brownies just aren’t quite sweet enough for your sugar-loving palette?

If you’re nodding your head in agreement, then today was created with your little sugar tooth in mind. Today, dear friends, is National Butterscotch Brownie Day!

For those of you not in the foodie nickname know, butterscotch brownies are often referred to as “blondies.” Recipes for said blondies swap out the chocolatey goodness of everyday ho-hum brownies, in favor of dominant, mouth-wateringly sweet brown sugar that delivers itself as a lovely butterscotch/vanilla flavor.

Now as crazy as this may sound, I’ve never had a butterscotch brownie. But that’s likely due to the fact that if a food item doesn’t contain some sort of chocolate, in my mind, it doesn’t qualify as a true dessert. But I’ll be the bigger person in this case and toss my bias to the side. After all, the blondie’s “sweet” promise of pure sugary deliciousness has truly piqued my interest. Continue Reading »

Neat Stuff on Nextag: Messages in Bottles

Posted on May 4, 2012 by Nicholas Passalis-Bain

Anyone would love getting a heartfelt message in a bottle, but who wants the hassle of having a loved one lost at sea for years? Finally there’s a solution: online message in a bottle sellers on Nextag. These are lovingly crafted bottles emblazoned with words of love and filled with evocateurs such as flower petals or seashells and sand, as well as a charming tied scroll bearing a message from your heart. From the safety of your own home you can order the perfect gift for any theme or occasion, including love, friendship, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, even “just because”. With several choices for each, you can browse and find the bottle that represents you best.

Of course bottles are like people, and what’s most important is what they have on the inside. While the message bottlers make it possible to write your own personal message, they also provide a selection of suggested poetry.

A poetry example from

“What was it that attracted me? That mysterious force. I’m asking myself as I stand in the sand, With the sun looming overhead. The water rushes up and takes hold of my naked feet, As my mind flows over with images of you, Painting a picture from what I know, And using my imagination for the rest. How can I express the grief I feel, Being held apart from you by this ocean? I would fall in the water and let the fierce tide carry me away, If surely, I’d meet your arms.”

It’s the irony of the shy that sometimes you have to bottle up your feelings to express them. Whether you really are out to sea, or away from home, or just emotionally distant, your loved one can always uncork your bottle, read your message, and feel your presence its words.

In case you need a reminder, Mother’s Day is coming up fast, and nothing says you’re the best mother in the world like a poem from a loving child!

Neat Stuff on Nextag: Solar Lamp Posts

Posted on May 1, 2012 by Nicholas Passalis-Bain

What if everything was wireless? Imagine a world without electric wiring, where your outdoor lights could be placed anywhere and work as if by magic. That’s the promise of solar lamp posts.

Solar lamp posts use a solar cell to charge their batteries by day, so that at night you get eight-to-ten hours of light. That’s pretty much all you need! A sunlight detector automatically turns the lights on and off at dusk and dawn. The lights themselves are super bright LEDs that use cone reflectors to further enhance their brightness.

Most manufacturers of solar lamp posts have made the clever design decision not to give their lights an appearance that says “high-technology at work.” Rather, the posts have a classic gas-light design, with beveled glass to complete that turn-of-the-last-century look. This allows your lamps to be new, old, stylish, and mysterious.

They also make solar lamp post models with built-in motion sensors, so that the lights will brighten when you need them and save their power when you don’t. Enjoy being welcomed home by a lamp that glows with the happiness of seeing you! You may also enjoy the effect of spooking unwanted guests.

5 Fun Things to Do with Your Solar Lamp Post

- Put one out in the woods and let your kids “discover” Narnia!

- Make neighbors wonder why yours is the only house with its lights on during a power outage.

- Get off the grid! ‘Cause you can’t like own electricity, man.

- Save very slightly on your electric bill!

- Place stylish outdoor lighting anywhere you want!

Happy Blueberry Pie Day!

Posted on April 28, 2012 by Nicole Nuss

blueberry pie, blueberries, food holidays, national blueberry pie day

National Blueberry Pie Day really does exist. Yes, it does.

And the day dedicated to nothing but scrumdiddlyumptious blueberry pie just so happens to be … TODAY!

Congratulations to everyone, as we’ve all been given the green light to completely gorge ourselves on blueberry pie as a result of this glorious holiday — totally guilt-free. In fact, it’s practically a requirement. I mean, ignoring such a day would be a big ole slap in the face to blueberry blossoms everywhere.

And no one wants to see blueberries dissed. Blueberries are awesome.

Here are some fun blueberry facts:

Ο Blueberries are one of only a handful of foods cool enough to be naturally blue in color. Seriously, it’s an incredibly exclusive list to be a part of.

Ο Native Americans named blueberries “star berries” because of their five point blossoms. Native Americans also used blueberry juice as medicine to treat a number of illnesses.

Ο Native Americans were definitely onto something in thinking blueberries hold healing capabilities. Out of 40 fresh fruits and veggies, blueberries rank numero uno in antioxidant superpowers. They’re also high in potassium and dietary fiber, plus aid in reducing naughty cholesterol.

Ο Maine produces 25% of all low bush blueberries in the US, making it the largest producer of blueberries in the world. And as a result, numerous Maine towns have dubbed themselves “The Blueberry Capital.”

Ο Blueberries are my favorite food of all time. And I’ve been known to, on more than one occasion, pack away an entire carton in one sitting. Pretty much anything jam packed with blueberry goodness is high on my “to devour” list.

So if National Blueberry Pie Day has you feeling ambitious and you’re now jonesin’ to whip up a fancy blueberry pie of your own, here’s a blueberry pie turnover kit to help guide the way.

Hooray for blueberries. And pie.
